About UKMC
UK Mortgage Centre (UKMC) are a family-run business based in Cheshire. They offer mortgages, insurance and no-nonsense mortgage advice for first-time buyers.
Founded in 2016 in the leafy suburbs of Warrington, Sam and Ray have grown the business steadily from humble beginnings to the 20-strong team it is today.
Operating across the whole of the UK, their core objective is to simplify the mortgage process through simple and easy-to-understand mortgage advice.
CSR is at the heart of their culture – they are 100% carbon neutral and plant a tree for every client that they work with to offset their carbon emissions.
The challenge
Back in November 2023, when we were first approached by UKMC, the brief was simple: “Help drive new customers to our website and increase mortgage and insurance sales.”
When we first started working with UKMC, we established that the customer journey along with the look and feel of their website was not aligned to the needs of their target audience. They operate in a highly-competitive marketplace, and it was very clear that these factors would be a barrier to delivering the gold-standard SEO we’ve become renowned for and would hold back performance in the long-term.
The solution
Our first step was to carry out research, followed by an in-depth marketing, SEO and UX audit.
Recommendations and agreed plan included:
- Further marketplace, customer and competitor research to inform and drive the campaign
- Full robust content strategy, including publishing new content on a monthly basis
- Regular technical SEO and website fixes
- Outreach, digital PR and link-building plan and implementation
- Complete customer re-brand addressing accessibility problems and better aligned to target audience
- Design, build and launch of a new SEO-ready optimised website with vastly improved UX
- Migration of the old website content, retaining rankings and link value
Results
We monitor and evaluate performance monthly and produce in-depth written reports for UKMC, as well as face-to-face two-way customer feedback – a true partnership approach.
In just 11 months of working with UKMC, the results have been outstanding.
Success metrics (Nov 23 – Sept 24):
- Monthly traffic has increased by 282%
- 20 x position #1 priority keywords
- 522 new ‘first-time buyer’ ranking keywords
- 1255% increase in number of keywords ranking
- 142% increase in referring domains
- 459% increase in new users and 171% increase in returning users
- 56% increase in clicks and 71% increase in impressions
- Domain rating shift from 10 to a trustworthy 31
- Full rebrand complete aligned to first-time buyer target audience
- New website built and launched (within 12 weeks) addressing the identified UX and accessibility issues of the old website.
